Our Best of 2011...
This year, to present our New Year greetings and give you news of the family, we conducted a survey and asked each family member to name his three favorite moments of 2011.
Sample: The 12 family members: Noé (7 years), Théo (11 years), Charlie (12 years), Emma (13 years), Marie (17), Julien (19 years) + Hideki, Isa, Phil Sophie, Christine and Hervé.
Method: f2f Interviews, non-directive
Period: January 1 to December 31, 2011
Base: 36 Citations, quotes in italic
Main Results:
With 19 citations, it is obviously their travels which most inspired our interviewees. Despite strong competition ("diving among the white nose sharks in Tahiti" for Kuratas, "flying over the Serengetiin a hot air balloon at dawn" for Guérinets, "the Welcome of the King to Easter Island" for Hervé, "the expedition in rural families of the Mekong" for Christine), one specific trip has been the highlight of all the family members (12 citations): “Back to roots in Greece”, organized by Christine, happy to remind them of their origins. (Given the economic climate, it was risky, but it worked!)
Here are some of their best moments:
"The nights on the trampoline of the catamaran under the stars in the Aegean Sea, I felt really small compared to the vastness of the sky filled with shooting stars."
"In Athens, I look at the old Greek women all in black, sitting in the cafe in Kolonaki Square and suddenly, I don’t know why, I'm Greek!"
"Christine’s deep and contagious emotion, the last dinner at Plaka, when all her grandchildren together* told her how Greek they felt!"
(* Except Noé who muttered: "I'm not Greek!)

After Travels, the most memorable moments (11 citations) are the Birthdays and Anniversaries, and not only the youngest! Sophie and Philippe celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary with the family in Paris - "Papa returned by surprise from New York and Julien from Montreal" - and all their friends and their American buddies (“A video that made me cry”) prior to a lovers retreat in a Corsican creek. Isabel celebrated her 40 years "so happy to bring home all her friends and party like when she was 20 years old" before embarking for La Martinique for "a great discussion about the difficulty of crossing the line of 40 years ... with a Daiquiri Punch on the terrace of the Cap Est Resort. It was really hard! "
We ended the year at the cabin of Tièche above Crans-Montana, Switzerland. A dinner at 6,500 ft to celebrate Marie’s 17 years and a downhill ski trip in complete darkness. "It was magical, we felt like the kings of the world!"
2011, a year full of memories and emotions ...
We hope you will share some special moments with us in 2012!
